Samer Elsherbiny
Friday keynote speaker
Dr Samer Elsherbiny is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in medical retina and general ophthalmology. His specialist interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disease.
Alongside the assessment and management of a wide range of adult eye conditions, he performs cataract surgery, intravitreal injections, retinal laser, YAG laser, SLT laser, and minor eyelid procedures. He is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care using the latest evidence-based treatments.
Lana Faraj
Saturday keynote speaker
Dr Lana A. Faraj is a consultant ophthalmologist specialising in cornea, cataract, and external eye disease. She leads the corneal service at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and has specialist interests in complex cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, dry eye, and ocular surface disease.
She graduated with first-class honours in Medicine and holds a Master's in Molecular Diagnostics and a PhD in cornea and anterior segment research from the University of Nottingham. Alongside her clinical work, she is actively involved in research and medical education, with numerous publications and national presentations.
Ricardo Peixoto
Sunday keynote speaker
Dr Ricardo Peixoto is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Royal Derby Hospital, specialising in glaucoma and the management of a wide range of eye conditions. He has specialist expertise in complex glaucoma, including glaucoma drainage devices and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).
He qualified at the University of Warwick and completed a PhD in Genetics at the University of Edinburgh before undertaking glaucoma fellowships at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, and the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. He combines a strong academic background with advanced surgical expertise to deliver the highest standards of patient care.

Our programme of hands-on workshops, delivered by industry experts, is always a highlight of the OIA Conference and we’re very excited to introduce them to ICOP
These interactive sessions give delegates the opportunity to go beyond simply seeing the latest technology in action. Hear directly from industry experts about how to get the most from the equipment, learn practical tips and techniques, and discover ways to improve your everyday imaging practice — before having the opportunity to try the equipment and techniques for yourself.
Workshops will be facilitated by the OIA and provide a friendly, supportive environment for delegates of all experience levels. Whether you're new to ophthalmic imaging and want to develop your confidence, or an experienced imager looking to refine your technique and explore new technology, there's something to take away.
It's a great opportunity to learn new skills, share knowledge, ask questions, and perfect the skills you already have — all through practical, hands-on learning.
